JURANCON A minor grape grown in the Cahors area east of Bordeaux in France. Blended with Malbec and Merlot to create a robust, aromatic local red. Also used to make a full, hard and dark red.

KADARKA A red wine grape native to and grown in Hungary and Bulgaria, where it is known as Gamza. Blended with Blaufrankisch, a Gamay clone, to make Egri Bikaver, Hungary`s hallmark dry, medium-bodied red blend. Traditionally the blend was stronger and darker due to higher Kadarka content, and thus its name-bikaver means bull`s blood.
KERNER A Riesling-Schiava Grossa hybrid white-wine grape grown in Germany. Used to make a Riesling-like white that often meets Auslese Pradikat standards.
KLEVNER An Alsation name for the Savagnin grape.
KNIPPERLE A minor white-wine grape primarily grown in the Alsace region of France. Used in generic blends such as Vin d`Alsace and Rauschling grapewine.

LANDOT A French-American hybrid red wine grape grown in the eastern United States. Used for making fruity, mild reds with a hint of foxiness.
LASKI RIZLING A Slovenian name for the Welschriesling grape.
LEANYKA A white-wine grape native to and grown in Hungary, as well as Roumania and Bulgaria, where it is called the Feteasca. Used to make a popular mild, semi-dry white.
Legs The streaks of wine that run down the inside of the glass after swirling or sipping.
LEN DE L`EL A minor white-wine grape grown in the Gaillac region of southeast France. Blended with Mauzac to create sweet and sparkling whites.
Length A long finish.
LEON MILLOT An early French-American hybrid grape very similar to Marechal Foch.
Light-bodied Having a delicate body and taste, and typicially lower in alcohol. Appropriate for some wines, a defect in others.

Luscious Rich and smooth; used to describe sweet or intensely fruity wines.

Maderized Having oxidized, resulting in a brown or amber color and stale odor.
MAGNOLIA A Muscadine grape derivative grown in the southeast and Gulf of Mexico regions of the United States. Primarily used to make sweet white wines with floral flavors.
MALBEC A semi-classic red-wine grape grown in the Bordeaux region of France, elsewhere in France, and cooler regions of California. Used primarily for blending, such as with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to create the world renowned red Bordeaux "claret." Also known in France as Cot, and in Alsace as Auxerrois. The Argentine grape Fer is most likely a clone.
