RIVANER Another name for the Muller-Thurgau grape widely grown in Luxembourg.
RKATSITELI An ancient white-wine grape widely grown in eastern Europe, and native to the area of the Caucasus Mountains bordering Armenia and Turkey. Grown to a lesser extent in the eastern United States, particularly in the Finger Lakes region of New York state. Used to make an acidic, but balanced white reminiscent of a spicy Gewurztraminer and Johannisberg Riesling blend. Pronounced "ar-kat-si-TEL-lee".

ROTGIPFLER A white-wine grape grown in Austria. Blended with Spatrot to make a notable zesty, intensely fruity wine.

RUBY CABERNET A red-wine grape cross of Carignane and Cabernet Sauvignon, bred for use in the hot San Joaquin Valley region of California, but showing promise in cooler coastal regions. Also grown to a lesser extent in South Africa, Chile, Argentina, and Australia. Used in jug wines.
RUCHE A minor grape grown in the Piedmont region of Italy. Used to make the aromatic Ruche di Castagnole Monferrato. Also known as the Rouchet, or Roche.
RUGNOLO GENTILE Another name for the Sangiovese Grosso grape.
