FOLLE BLANCHE A minor grape once used in making the brandy wines of the Cognac region of France. Related to the Gros Plant of the Loire-Muscadet region of France.

Foxy Having a distinctive grape-like flavor, typically associated with wines made from the native American grape Vitis labrusca.
FREISA A minor red-wine grape grown in the Piedmont region of Italy. Used to make both dry and spumante-style reds.
Fruity Having the aroma or flavor of fruits such as apple, black currant, cherry, citrus, pear, peach, raspberry, strawberry, or, of course, grape. Typically associated with young, light wines.
Full-bodied Dense with flavor and texture, and typically higher in alcohol content; See also Big, Fat.
FURMINT A white-wine grape widely grown in Hungary, as well as to some extent in Austria and Slovenia. Used to make the ultra-sweet Tokaji whites. In Austria it is called Mosler, and in Slovenia, Sipon.

GAMAY Any of several cepage clones of Pinot Noir grown in the United States, including Gamay Noir, Gamay Beaujolais and Napa Gamay.
GAMAY BEAUJOLAIS A cepage clone of Pinot Noir widely grown in the northwest United States. Its early-ripening grapes are used to make solid reds.

GAMAY NOIR A cepage clone of Pinot Noir. Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc is used to produce the Beaujolais wines of France.
GAMZA A red-wine grape widely grown in northern Bulgaria, and Hungary, where it is called Kadarka. Used to make an excellent full-bodied red suitable for aging.
GARNACHA The Spanish name for the Grenache grape.

GEWURZTRAMINER A clone of the Traminer varietal widely grown in the Alsace region of France, as well as cool coastal regions of the western United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Used to produce sweet whites with a strong floral aroma and nutty flavor, for which Alsace is especially famous. Similar to Johannisberg Riesling.
GOLDRIESLING An ancient white-wine grape producing primarily grown in small quantites in eastern Germany or northern Austria.
GRAGNANO The Italian name for the Carignane grape.
GRAUER BURGUNDER The Austrian and Hungarian name for the Pinot Gris grape.
