Originally purchased in 1832, Cheval Blanc reached its definitive shape around 1870. From the start, the Fourcaud-Laussac family played a major role in the development of the winery. Today, while Cheval Blanc is run and structured as a company, it is still owned and operated by the family.

Chateau Cos d'Estournel is one of Bordeaux's "super seconds." The vineyards, located on 170 acres have an exotic, pagoda-like chais, which was erected by Louis Gaspard d'Estournel in the 1830's. The estate is currently owned and operated by the Prats family.

Chateau d'Armailhac consists of 124 acres of vines in Pauillac. Since the 18th century the chateau had belonged to the d'Armailhacq family, after whom it was named. Then in 1933, Baron Philippe de Rothschild purchased they vineyards and the chateau was called Chateau Mouton Baron Philippe. In 1989, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild restored the chateau to its original identity, renaming it Chateau d'Armailhac.

Ducru-Beaucaillou was known only as "Beaucaillou" which means the beautiful pebbles until the first part of the 19th century, when owner, Monsieur Ducru, incorporated his name along with that of the property. Most recently, the estate was purchased in 1941 by Francois Borie. Today his winemaking is carried on by his son, Jean-Eugene, and grandsons, Francois-Xavier and Bruno-Eugene. These gentlemen personally oversee each step of the winemaking process.

Established in 1593, Yquem was brought into the Lur-Saluces family by marriage in 1785. Though the family still owns it, there has been a bitter split over whether to sell to LVMH Moet-Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Yquem is famed for its sweet, long-lasting white wines.

Chateau La Tour Haut-Brion has a winemaking history that dates back to the Middle Ages. The small estate is located close to Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion. Among the early proprietors was Louis de Rostaing, Lord of La Tour in 1540. 1983 is when Domaine Clarence Dillon, the current owner of Chateau Haut-Brion, acquired the property.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild owned by the Rothschild family since 1868 remains a family property. Their vineyard is divided into three areas, the hilly ground near the chateau, the Plateau of the Carruades and seven and a half acres on the commune of St.-Estephe. Chateau Lafite Rothschild popularity expanded to the court of Louis XV when the wines were introduced to the king and the Marquise de Pompadour.

From 1749 to 1824 Chateau Lynch-Bages belonged to the Lynch family, descendants of John Lynch of Galway, a young Irish Catholic exiled from his homeland in 1691. Jean-Charles Cazes later purchased Chateau Lynch-Bages in 1934, and spent the next 35 years working on it. Today, the property is overseen by his grandson, Jean-Michel Cazes.

Chateau Margaux was founded in the 1400s. The chateau and cellar buildings still in use today, were built by the Marquis de la Colonilla, who purchased the property in 1804 . Baroness Philippine de Rothschild has been the owner of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild since the death of her father. The late Baron Philippe fought to revise Bordeaux's official 1855 classification so that the chateau could officially hold the rank of "premier grand cru." Finally after battling for 20-years, he succeeded in 1973. He then changed the chateau's motto to "Premier je suis, second je fus, Mouton ne change" which translates to First I am, Second I was, I Mouton does not change.

Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande bears the name of the Comtesse de Lalande of 1850, who was born Virginie de Pichon Longueville. More recently, in 1978, May Eliane de Lencquesaing inherited the property. The property consists of 185 acres that stretch to the south of the Pauillac region and into St.-Julien. The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Disznoko established in the 17th century, consists of 320 acres situated at the tip of the V-shaped Tokaj region. Disznoko has been the property of several Hungarian families and in 1992 it became part of the Tokaj winemaking renaissance. Under the management of Jean-Michel Cazes, they have replanted the vines and built underground cellars.
