Colorful mosaic tiles, beautiful murals, and hanging lights add to the festive atmosphere at this Spanish-themed restaurant and bar that’s a hot spot for live Latin entertainment in the evenings. The Plato Grande, a three-tier tower of taste tempting delights for two or more is the perfect way to sample the wide variety of tapas offerings including empanadas de pollo, tropical ceviche, and pimientos rellenos. It’s easy to make a meal out of the tapas, but you’ll want to save room for some of the delicious entrees like paella valenciana, chicken in Oaxaca-style mole sauce, and grilled swordfish. Stop in on the last Friday of each month for the lunch buffet for $10.95 (11:30am-2pm).

Bono’s, in the heart of Belmont Shore, is an award-winning eatery owned by the late Sonny Bono’s daughter, Christy. Featuring an airy dining room with palm trees and a water wall that continually changes colors, it provides a fun see-and be-seen atmosphere with a full bar and patio dining perfect for people-watching. The nouvelle California menu with Italian influences offers a wide array of appetizers from baked brie and curried chicken satay to egg rolls, carpaccio and calamari. Delius offers elegant prix-fixe dinners by reservation only in a beautifully furnished Victorian-style dining room with ornate place settings and a harpist playing on weekends. There is one seating per evening that includes a lavish seven-course meal and wine. The menu changes weekly, and special theme dinners, including a New Year’s Eve feast, are frequently offered. The bar welcomes walk-ins for wine tasting, beverages and a limited menu including soups, salads, and appetizers. There are more than 50 choices of wines by the glass. Dinner entrees range from pepper-crusted filet mignon with bourbon sauce to rack of lamb with mint-pesto sauce.

Located in the lobby of one of the city’s most architecturally interesting historic buildings, this majestic restaurant takes fine dining to new heights with a towering ceiling, sparkling chandeliers, plush drapes and ornate Grecian statues. A huge mahogany bar and grand piano in the middle of the room evoke images of a 1920’s supper club, and a combo playing on weekends invites diners to leave their classy upholstered booths for a twirl around the dance floor. The contemporary American menu features several eclectic pasta and seafood dishes, but the crowd favorites are beef wellington, chateaubriand and rack of lamb. Lighter offerings include lobster salad, pepper crusted ahi and Alaskan king crab legs. There’s an impressive wine list and 15 different martinis to choose from.
