Chinese cuisine is very popular among many states with different styles of cooking. Houston Texas is no different when it comes to Chinese cuisines. One thing you will find common in each restaurant are the names of the entrees. I will contest that each one is unique from place to place. Keep in mind while ordering portion size can be a bit over whelming, you will usually leave with leftovers. Don’t be afraid to try a new and different entrée, it is a great way to find your favorite. My list is compiled with very casual to elaborate dining in mind, not in that order. You will delight your senses when you dine at my top ten Chinese picks.

It is owned by Yao Ming’s family, the best basketball player ever from China and who just happens to play for the Houston Rockets. Mr. & Mrs. Yao call Houston home and by showing their love for our great state they have opened a fabulous restaurant. Inviting, beautiful, and comfortable is the only way to describe this place. Try the Phoenix Wings and the Moo Goo Gai Pan; it was a slam dunk with the tasty sauces. The bar area is a hot spot for the beautiful people. Reservations are recommended.

It has an over sized dining areas and large aquariums. The impressive appearance of the Ocean’s Palace spills over to the food. It packs the house every weekend. In fact reservations here are a way of life if you want to eat. You might get lucky with a walk in seat, but why chance it. Everything you could imagine is on the menu with a wonderful Sunday Brunch. I recommend the succulent King Crab. The dress is casual and the service is great.

It is wonderfully delicious with favor that abounds with tempting appetizers. A favorite here is the lettuce wraps that are so refreshing served with ice cold lettuce. The patrons here are all ages and groups. Everyone loves PF Changs and if you don’t, well your opinion doesn’t matter anyway. They are packed every weekend and that speaks volumes.

Shanghai River has been in Houston for almost 20 Years. You will find the staff and owners a delight and personable. Fabulous, Fabulous, I totally loved the General Tao’s Chicken and egg rolls. The food here is a beautiful work of art to be enjoyed. Classy and elegant will sum up Shanghai. Reservations are recommended.

GOLDEN JADE 1419 Spring Cypress St. Houston TX 77007 (281)350-5363 You might be hesitating at first…I was, do to the appearance of the strip center. The staff is very thoughtful and food is great. The regulars continue to rave that quality and quantity go hand in hand. The food is clearly the basic Chinese dishes you find anywhere it is just delicious. A noteworthy dish is the pepper steak. For the ladies you might want to share this dish it is plenty for two. Your glass will never go empty here. Golden Jade is very casual, just come as you are.

It is Roasted pork, chicken, beef, and shrimp with steamed vegetables. The diet dishes they offer here are just as good as the regular menu items. Mandarin Chinese is a hot spot for lunch. An additional treat is home delivery. The customers are treated like family.

This place will blow you away with its décor it is fit for an emperor. In fact you would be lucky to find a spot at the bar on the weekends it is jammed packed. I recommend reservations or you may never get a table. Café le Jadeite is a combo of French and Chinese cuisine. The combo may seem odd at first thought, but the marriage is beautiful. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken it might possibly be the best I have ever had. It is a great lunch place for business professionals. The live entertainment turns this place into a club like atmosphere.

This place is all about customer service, they love their patrons. A favorite here is the Chicken and Walnut it is served with the Kung Pao sauce. You must check out the deserts here, simple yet a great way to finish dinner. Cafe Tin Tin also caters business lunches and offers home delivery.

Golden Hunan has an Empress Chicken dish that you must experience, it is simply divine. I recommend finishing up with a slice of carrot cake. It is family owned and operated. You will feel very welcomed here. The staff cares about their customers. Family style dining is available along with special selection of dishes called Diet World Menu. This is the perfect atmosphere for business lunches and elegant dinner.

The buffet offered here is beautiful and tasty. The Almond Cookies are wonderful and the perfect end to a good meal. There is a complete desert table with a wide verity. Many families enjoy the cuisine here with kid friendly items. The lunch crowd is plenty with the ability to eat and go; Beijing has become the perfect stop.
