I don’t care where you live there is no place in the world that can lay a barbeque sandwich on you like Texas. The barbeque here is considered a sport and the quest to be the best among barbeque restaurants can be brutal. These men and women take Barbeque serious here. The best have been forced to offer catering. There just is not enough room to handle the droves of people that want their barbeque.
LUCHI & JOEY’S FRONTIER BARBEQUE 815 Walker Houston TX 77002 (713)223-1232 Hours: Mon-Fri 6:30-2:30, Sat & Sun-Closed Leave it to a couple of Texans to open a Barbeque place underground. This is cutting edge Barbeque with your health in mind. Their sauce is so yummy and good that Whole foods market carries it. Barbeque is their specialty although they serve breakfast too, with fresh made juice. It is known to the hip crowd that has ventured out of the norm and questioned the unexpected. The customer service is so good and to insure that Luchi & Joey are working on site.

HUNGRY FARMERS BARBEQUE 40 E. Crosstimbers St. Houston, TX 77022 (713) 697-4874 Hours: Sun-Thurs 10:30-9:30, Fri & Sat 10:30-11:00 I have been eating at the Hungry Farmers for years. They have the most lip smacking chopped beef barbeque in Houston. The basket sandwich and fries is the best way to go. This is one hopping place with a massive fan base. If you are looking for a great Barbeque sandwich without all the hype and price, then don’t pass on this place.

Talk about customer service this is the place. The line might seem long at first, it moves quickly so don’t give up. I like the fact they offer a great kiddy selection with portion size perfect. The sandwiches are not the only thing good here. Demeris noteworthy items are ribs and pies.

You are guided in by curiosity and gently introduced to true Texas barbeque. If you are from out of town you will wish you lived here. Goode Co. bakes all the bread served and pies to ensure taste is not lost. This is evident when you sink your mouth down on the Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie. The stuffed baked potato loaded down with everything is hot lunch item. The lunch crowd comes in prepared by throwing back their ties to get down to business. All sauces served there are bottled and sold. This allows you to take the experience back home. The label reads Goode Company BBQ Hall of Fame. My favorite is Uncle Joe’s Secret which comes in a wooded create. That’s sure to put and smile on anyone’s face.

OTTO’S 5502 Memorial Dr. Houston TX 77007 (713) 864-8526 Hours: Mon-Sat 10:30-7:00, Sun 10:00-4:00 It’s where the president eats-is what they tell me. In fact there is The Bush Plate, if it is fit for the Texas royal family, its fit for us. They have family size portions available for order. The best Root beer served here is a special blend of Otto’s own creation. This location is also open for breakfast at 7:00, but no barbeque until 10:30. The staff is friendly and everything is fresh.

BARNEY’S TEXAS BARBEQUE 2698 FM 1960 Rd. East Houston, TX 77073 (281) 821-1818 Hours: Mon-Sun 10:30-9:30 If you love those little hidden treasures this is the one. The customer service is great with tasty barbeque served up hot. The most popular plate is the Beef links and potato salad. I don’t believe you can go wrong here just about every dish is worth a repeat visits. Barneys is a great place for family dining.

The staff is fast and friendly. A favorite here is the sliced barbeque beef sandwich. It is a great lunch spot that breaks up the mundane routine.

Good Barbeque continues to on as Fri night is-rib fest, which is all you can eat. Gabby’s offers a full bar this adds in the club like atmosphere on the weekends. The Staff is fast with good managers to keep this chain in action. A great dinner place on Friday and Saturdays for large groups that love to have fun.

BROWN SUGARS 111 Greens Rd Houston TX 77060 (281)876-1337 Hours: I fell for this place 15 years ago. The guests are well trained here, which is helpful when that lunch crowd all pulls up at once. I simply love the stuffed baked potato with the works. I follow it with an iced cold glass of lemonade. What you need to get on your visit is the peach cobbler, you are not going to want to share –so get your own.

The meat is always moist and never dry. Charlie’s brings in a great flow that is steady daily and the locals sing their praises. They have a great kids menu and as far as the deserts order one of each.
