Known around town as the king of the mole, the Red Iguana is the place to go for pre Hispanic Mexican food. The flavors are surprising and often unexpected, but always delicious. Founded in 1985 by the Cardenas family, their specialty is the mole, a traditional sauce made with a variety of ingredients. The Red Iguana’s signature mole, mole poblano, is a rich blend of peanuts, walnuts, almonds, chocolate, and spices. If you are looking for more traditional Mexican fair, don’t worry. Red Iguana also offers items such as, chili verde with tender pork and a tomatillo sauce; carne asada a la tampiqueña; spicy enchiladas and fajitas with your choice of steak, chicken, shrimp or vegetables.

Located in Historic Trolley Square, Rodizio Grill is a can’t miss experience. The very best Brazil has to offer is slow roasted and served up daily on large skewers and carved right at your table. Waiters in traditional Brazilian garb frequent the dining room carrying large cuts of meat, which they will skillfully carve onto your plate at your request. And with over a dozen different meats to choose from, you are certain to leave satisfied. The cost of dinner also includes the salad bar. Also not to be missed is the glazed, grilled pineapple and Rodizio’s assortment of desserts.

Though you will have to hop on the freeway to get to Park City, Zoom is well worth the drive. Zoom is American cuisine at its finest. Diverse with regional influences, Zoom features a seasonal menu, but staples include a scrumptious smoked salmon flapjack with lemon dill crème, applewood grilled New York steak, saffron scented creamy risotto, and buffalo osso buco among other tempting dishes. Don’t forget to save room for dessert which often features fresh fruit and homemade ice creams. While in Park City, be sure to stroll along Main Street visiting the many unique boutiques and shops that give Main Street is nationwide acclaim.

Metropolitan opened in 1995 to rave reviews and critical acclaim. Principal Karen Olson’s attention to detail creates a truly one of a kind dining experience. Each plate is a work of art meant to be savored in the Metropolitan’s modernist dining area. If you plan to enjoy the many courses offered, come prepared to make some difficult choices. Gazing over the menu, you will notice culinary delights such as soft shell crab salad with avocado and tomato gelée; foie gras, strawberry and balsamic shortcake and muscovy duck with almond frangipane, roasted plum and red Muscat. Known as one of the most up-scale restaurants in Salt Lake City; plan on making reservations and finding a sitter for the kids.

Focusing on Northern Italian cuisine, Tuscany is perfect for a business lunch or an elegant dinner for two. Try the double-cut pork chop or pesto-crusted salmon for an entrée. Mussels or hearth breads are excellent starters and no dinner is complete without at least a sampling of the 7'4" Chocolate Cake named after former NBA star and co-owner Mark Eaton. In addition to the 350 wine selections available on the regular menu, Tuscany also has one of the few cigar bars in the city.

Chef Tom Grant has done an excellent job of introducing tapas to Utah. Ranging from Spanish to French to Northern African, the tapas menu completely changes every three weeks. If a more filling meal is what you're craving, try the seared lamb tenderloin with vanilla bean au jus, or the almond-crusted sea scallops. The European standard bar offers a full selection of aperitifs and dessert wines, and even if you're not imbibing, take a peak at the bank vault turned wine cellar.

Chosen as the National Brew Pub of 2000, Red Rock is one of the most happening places in Salt Lake. Ten freshly brewed beers (five staples and five seasonal) are always on tap as well as brewed-on-site cream soda, root beer, and orange soda. New American cuisine is the speciality of Bambara, located in the Hotel Monaco. The Argentinean beef tenderloin with a bleu cheese crust and Merlot reduction sauce, grilled Scottish salmon, or lacquered breast of free-range chicken with a balsamic soy glaze are some of the top choices, but the menu changes daily so there is always something new to try. Leave room for the sampler of California cheeses or the tropical meringue tart.

Caffe Molise could still be considered one of Salt Lake City's best-kept secrets. Owner Shelly DeProto is credited with one of the top-rated lasagnas in the state, and the crab ravioli and made-from-scratch tiramisu round out a menu of Italian favorites. Two appetizer specials are offered each night. During the summer months, the patio is open and seating capacity is nearly doubled.
