Conscientious eating is tough in a city of decadence! Although Las Vegas has a plethora of marvelous restaurants, there are very few places that are exclusively vegetarian. However, even in a carnivorous city of rich gourmet restaurants and attractions, there are many places, which offer a wide selection of vegetarian and Vegan dishes for your dietary needs. If you take a global approach to dining, you'll find that variety is literally the spice of life for Vegetarian eating in Vegas.
BACIO - Vegetarian/Vegan/Organic 1020 E. Desert Inn Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 699-9980 Hours: (Mon-Fri) 11:30am-2:30pm; 5:00pm-10:30pm, (Sat-Sun) An organic Italian restaurant, Bacio has an extensive vegetarian menu, which includes meatless salads, whole grain breads and pasta with vegetables. Their specialty item for the conscientious vegetarian is their eggplant, which is at once rich and succulent. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. It's a real mom and pop shop dining experience. Vegan dishes are limited to salads and steamed veggies.

BASHA - Vegetarian/Vegan 3969 S. Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89119 (702) 699-7155 Hours: Open daily from 11:00a.m. -10:00pm daily Only about a mile east of the Strip, Basha may be the most eclectic middle-eastern experience restaurant in the city! They serve a variety of foods, from Greek to Armenian to Arabic to Persian. The dark sumptuous atmosphere and belly dancers (performing Friday and Saturday evenings) make you feel as though you've been transported to another part of the world. For $8.95, vegetarians can enjoy their combo meal, including humus, taboli, and falafel. They also have a veggie lover's dish and a host of salads. There are a few Vegan choices on the menu.

GANDHI INDIA'S CUISINE - Vegetarian/Vegan 4080 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 734-0094 Hours: Open daily- 11:00am-2:30pm (Lunch); 5:00pm-10:30pm (Dinner) With a vegetarian menu of more than twenty dishes, Ganhi India's Cuisine offers something vegetarians might find most restaurants to be lacking: variety. One of their fortes is the clay oven that makes a variety of their dishes by baking them a very high temperature to absorb maximum flavor. Must-haves include the Navrattan Korma (veggies, cheese and nuts in creamy sauce) and clay baked Eggplant Bhartha. The Aloo Tikki is a spicy potato pancake that's a delicious appetizer. Warning: you'll need a lot of water for this fiery food! They offer a variety of sampler dishes for the Indian cuisine novice. Several dishes- including but not limited to Kadhi Chole, Malai Kofta and Aloo Palak are suitable for a Vegan diet.

INDIA PALACE - Vegetarian/Vegan 505 E. Twain Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 796-4177 Hours: Open daily- 11:00am-2:30pm (lunch); 5:00pm-10:30pm (dinner) Another Indian restaurant with a vast array of vegetarian dishes, India Palace has 45 vegetarian entrees appetizers and side dishes. The Mater Panner (cheese and peas cooked in a spicy gravy) is a house favorite. With a wide selection of rice and breads, it's a vegetarian haven of happiness! As an added bonus, hotel delivery is available, so if you're traveling to Vegas, you can enjoy a variety of fully prepared vegetarian dishes in the comfort of your own hotel room. Plenty of the dishes will suit a Vegan diet (you can also request certain dishes without the cream sauce, which will suit the dietary rules.)

MEDITERRANEAN DELIGHTS - Vegetarian/Vegan 7400 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89103 (702) 260-6093 Hours: (Mon-Sat) 10:00am-9:00pm; (Sun) 10:00am-6:00pm With a wide selection of salads and humus, Mediterranean delight offers plenty of selections for the un-carnivorous. And their Bachlava is yummy, too! The borrani is a heavenly blend of spinach and cream that will take an ordinary pita and turn it into an extraordinary meal! Best is the variety of vegetables, both raw and cooked, that takes a bland salad and makes it a flavorful feast. Vegan dishes are also available here: pitas, salads, and veggie dishes available.

The coos coos with vegetables is the most popular item on the menu for the vegetarian clientele. The warm tones of the atmosphere are inviting and the flavors are rich and spicy. There are a few Vegan choices available.

Fast and ultra casual, it's a good place to get a falafel or a salad. There's a wide variation of choices to make your sandwich as interesting as possible. It may be fast but you won't get a prepackaged, processed mystery package there. The food is fresh and the ingredients are wholesome. Vegans can probably put an idea or two together from the menu.

Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89104 (702) 737-7282 Hours: (Mon-Fri) 10:00am-4:45pm; (Sat) 10:00am-3:30pm One of very few all-vegetarian restaurants in Las Vegas, Rainbow's End features a vast array of vegetarian dishes, from salads to pastas to soups to sandwiches to soy products. Not only is Rainbow's End a vegetarian restaurant, but it's also a grocery store (with longer business hours), complete with vegetarian and Vegan products. There's a large selection of Vegan meals.

Their foods are not only 100% vegetarian, but they take great pride in their commitment to healthy eating, healthy living and respect for life. Their combinations are at once creative and conscientious. Just about everything on the menu will appeal to Vegans.

Lake Mead Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89128 (702) 942-1500 Hours: Open daily from 7:00am-10:00pm Wild Oats is also a grocery store, complete with specialty foods and products. It's by no means strictly vegetarian, but they have a fine selection of vegetarian foods and products, both in the café and throughout the market. There's a vast array of soy products and they label Vegan friendly dishes clearly. The spinach quiche and Roma tomato/buffalo mozzarella sandwiches are simply outstanding. They also have one of the healthiest smoothie bars you'll ever visit. Vegan dishes and products are clearly labeled.
